Before you start, follow these quick steps to ensure a smooth transfer:

🖥️ How to Use Migration Assistant (Windows ➡️ Mac)

Apple’s Migration Assistant is your best option when switching from Windows to macOS.

Steps:

  1. Connect both computers to the same WiFi.
  2. Update macOS to Sonoma 14.4 or later.
  3. Download and install Windows Migration Assistant on your PC.
  4. On Mac: Go to Applications > Utilities > Migration Assistant.
  5. Choose “From a Windows PC” when prompted.
  6. On your PC, open Migration Assistant, enter the code from your Mac.
  7. Select the files to transfer.
  8. Click Continue and let the transfer run.
  9. Review and close the assistant after completion.

Tip: Large transfers can take hours. Run it overnight if needed.

💻 Transfer from Mac to Windows Using Migration Assistant

The process is similar in reverse:

  1. Connect both devices to WiFi.
  2. Open Migration Assistant on Mac and choose “To a Windows PC.”
  3. Launch Windows Migration Assistant on your PC.
  4. Follow on-screen instructions and enter the verification code.
  5. Choose data types to transfer.
  6. Click Continue, then Done.
